Science Week Static Electricity

rathleenationalsch

We investigated static electricity today 13/11/2023.

1. We rubbed our hair with balloons and electrons were transferred from our hair to the balloons. This gave our hair a positive charge and the balloons a negative charge. Particles with opposite charges are attracted to each other, so our hair stuck to the balloons.

2. We rubbed the balloons on our jumpers and then used the balloons to pick up scraps of paper.

3. We rubbed plastic biros in our hair and then held it over confetti and the confetti stuck to the biros.
